After Estarossa escapes with Elizabeth, The Seven Deadly Sins and Derieri follow after him in hopes of saving their friend and putting an end to the overpowered Commandment once and for all. Meanwhile, Ban finally reunites with Meliodas in Purgatory, and the two set forth in search of an exit back to the land of the living. Their search brings them to the Demon Lord himself, and while both parties are locked in their respective battles, Meliodas and The Sins learn a startling truth that connects Estarossa with Mael the Archangel.
We continue to get to know Estarossa in this volume, and it's quite hard not to sympathise with him to an extent no matter how much you might dislike him. We also get to take a look at the relationship and dynamics between Zeldris and Meliodas and how things became...strained between them, which is something I've been curious about and much like with Estarossa, I found myself sympathising with Zeldris a little bit too!
A good chunk of this volume is spent in Purgatory with Meliodas and Ban trying to get out of it. I'm loving the fact that my brotp has been reunited and Ban is having fun, shall we say? I've quite missed Ban as we haven't seen him all that much recently, and I've missed Meliodas and Ban's friendship. I actually found them oddly heartwarming in this volume amidst all the action they provide for us.
Of course King and Co also provide a nice amount of action as they have a battle of their own to save Elizabeth and there's a very interesting twist involved as well! Just when I thought this series couldn't surprise me anymore it threw out something else!

As the Holy War between The Ten Commandments and The Four Archangels begins once more, Estarossa sets off to find Derieri and Monspeet in order to claim their commandments for himself. Before long, he encounters Sariel and Tarmiel, two Archangels who vow to avenge their fallen comrade. But with three commandments already in his possession, can Estarossa even be defeated?
Opening the volume in to a huge battle means Volume 32 is all go from the start. Monspeet and Derieri have their own little showdown with Estarossa, and I have to say I have started to like the two of them. They realised that maybe humans aren't all bad, maybe they don't want to be all evil and amid all the blood and death and fighting we nearly had a cute moment with them....nearly. My poor heart was completely shattered by them, I have to be honest, but I'm excited at the prospect of Derieri teaming up with the Sins!
I was also impressed with Elizabeth this volume. I've been impressed with her character arc and growth and this volume really showcases all of that, and drives it home that she's changed and she can hold her own and take care of herself to an extent. She can help in the fight instead of having to be protected by everyone. She isn't the ditsy girl she was before.
Estarossa is quite impressive in this volume, in that he rocks up to the aftermath of our groups battle with the demons, which was excellent by the way, and immediately begins to smack talk the angels there. The confidence was impressive. Estarossa is a bit...warped when we first see him and he only gets more so. What I found interesting was that we get some background revealed on him, and it did have me empathising with him but he he just gets really, really creepy by the end of the volume. Half of me sympathises with the poor guy, the other half is creeped out by the fact he keeps referring to himself as Meliodas.
I really didn't think I'd warm up to any of the angels but Sariel and Tarmiel had me rooting for them. They had a rough time up against Estarossa but we did get to see them really throw down. They also provide some interesting information and a bit of potential foreshadowing or rather an idea of what might happen with Margaret in the future. The story of they and their vessels had me finally thinking 'okay, you guys might not be so bad'.
Volume 32 is nicely paced and we get a tonne of action in this volume courtesy of the large battle and the confrontation with Estarossa. While the initial fight scenes are more of an ensemble affair, the latter fight scenes showcase more of Sariel and Tarmiel. Alongside the action heavy scenes, we get a little bit of background filled in and some surprising developments for certain characters. We don't see Meliodas though except for very briefly in a flashback but once the cliffhanger ending is out of the way, we do get a couple of side stories to make up for it!

In order to break the curse on Elizabeth, and to protect The Seven Deadly Sins from Chandler, Meliodas does the unthinkable--he offers to become the Demon Lord, and disbands The Seven Deadly Sins! But The Sins refuse to say goodbye without a fight, and Ban goes to Purgatory alone to reclaim Meliodas's emotions and save their beloved captain. Meanwhile, Meliodas reunites with Zeldris and Estarossa in Camelot, where things soon get heated between the three brothers...
As is swiftly becoming usual with this series, the volume opens on a battle. We still haven't dealt with Chandler and Gloxinia and Drole are getting a chance to shine and show us how much they've changed. Meliodas wakes up finally, but he's in his bad guy form, giving off an evil vibe. Honestly I feel like Meliodas is too focused on saving Elizabeth to do anything else, or be of any use to anyone else. He's making some poor decisions along the way, and his brain is definitely not functioning all that well.
We get to see a lot of Estarossa and Zeldris this volume. I find Estarossa particularly interesting because he seems pretty chill...until he's not, and he appears to have some kind of connection with Elizabeth back when she was a goddess that I'm looking forward to seeing more of. I love how this series lets you think you have everything figured out about the past, and know everything that happened...and then it throws something else at you that you then have to wait to be fully revealed. It certainly keeps the intrigue going.
Zeldris meanwhile, is a lot more straight forward. At least in the beginning. He wants the throne and he'll fight Meliodas to get it, which gives us a glimpse of how powerful Meliodas is now. However...things take an interesting turn because Meliodas clearly has something on him or something he wants because weirdly enough....Zeldris teams up with him and Estarossa to help Meliodas become the Demon King. It's honestly the weirdest team up ever, but I am super intrigued by this turn of events.
We have some other nice plot twists too, like with Hawk. I always figured something was off about him but could never put my finger on what. The fact we're on Volume 30 and the author is still managing to surprise us should be applauded though.
As you all know, I love Ban, and I've always loved the bromance between Meliodas and Ban which is back with a vengeance this volume! Ban is getting his own little heroic moment as he heads off on his own mission which is going to be interesting to watch unfold in the coming volumes.
As much as we move forward plot-wise with this volume, there are some things that seem like a blatant set up for the coming volumes, like with Ban for example. Then there's Margaret who does something super dumb. I always suspected she was a bit of an idiot and I was not wrong. It is an interesting move though and sets things up to be even more epic though.
I have to say, Vivian is getting on my last nerve. I thought we were done with her ages ago, and now she's back...can we not? But at least Gil is finally back, which contributes to the setting up as all of the main players are back on the board by the end of this volume.
This volume moves along steadily, pushing the plot forward with action and humour. We have some set up for a couple of new mini arcs for Ban and Meliodas, in particular. There's a few plot twists, and each of them is pretty big and intriguing at the same time, and should prove to make things very interesting!

Elaine thought her troubles were over when she convinced Ban to give up on stealing the Fountain of Life, but keeping the rowdy young man in check might be more than one Saint can handle! While Ban's antics fulfill his promise to alleviate the last 700 years of loneliness, Elaine wishes he'd take up his thieving ways once more and steal her heart instead. Just when happiness is within reach for these two, an evil shadow covers the Fairy King's Forest, threatening to destroy all in its path...
With this volume, we get to see Elaine loosening up a little bit and having some fun! Plus the bonus chapters serve to show us why the forest started to trust Ban and didn't turn against him and it's not just because of the fact he didn't steal the Fountain like I'd kind of been assuming!
We do get some new content that we haven't seen before, showing their life in the forest and what they got up to besides the whole ale label collection viewing. But we do obviously get some content that we have seen before....namely the tragic part of their story that we've seen in the main series.
I have enjoyed delving more in to Elaine as a character and getting to see some more moments between her and Ban as well as the new mixed in with the old. It gives us a better understanding of what happened and fills in some blanks as well as adding depth and understanding to their relationship. It's also come at a perfect time to tie in with the main series!

Having had his emotions robbed by the Demon Lord, Merlin and the rest of The Seven Deadly Sins confine Meliodas in an effort to control his Demon power and return him to his old self. With their fearless leader out of commission, Diane, King, and Gowther head to Camelot to free the people from The Ten Commandments' control. Meanwhile, the Demon Lord orders The Ten Commandments to recapture Meliodas, bringing Meliodas face-to-face with his old master: Chandler, the Pacifier Demon!
As is becoming usual with these volumes lately, we launch straight in with action as we finish off the battle that we ended the last volume on. I have to say, things have definitely taken an interesting turn now, Meliodas is out of the running and so is Escanor so it looks like we'll be getting to see more of Diane, King and Gowther. Plus we finally get to catch up with Arthur and what's happening with him....which is that he's found a minion of Merlin's?! Two more enemies also pop up as Zeldris has got to new allies. It would seem we've had a bit of a switch up when it comes to sides after the recent events and battles.
Most of this volume is taken up by a massive battle, we have the Sins fighting against Chandler, who's Meliodas' teacher and is trying to take him back on the orders of the Demon King. It's nice to see everyone getting a chance to shine this volume. Particularly when the focus is usually on Meliodas and his badass-ness. I'm also liking the sense of jeopardy we have, not knowing who'll die if anyone.
Volume 29 is another fast paced volume, with a little throwback and a couple of interesting tidbits dropped including something to do with Merlin's past and where exactly Gil is. There's plenty of action and incredibly bad odds that only get worse towards the end, where we're left on a cliffhanger waiting to see if the Sins will triumph! I mean....we all know they probably will but still!

When Elizabeth regains her memories of her past lives, Meliodas can no longer conceal the details of the curse that binds them together. In order to break the curse and save Elizabeth, Meliodas and The Sins set out to confront The Ten Commandments. But when an old enemy rises once again, will the comrades be able to weather the onslaught?
Picking up where we left off it would seem there's more to reveal about Meliodas and Elizabeth's past, and the curse that binds them which was another little shock twist to this series! If you've been wondering what the deal is with Liz looking like Elizabeth and the Goddess Elizabeth...this is the volume that reveals all that and watching it play out is going to be interesting. We'll either be heading for heartbreak or it'll all be fixed, no problem!
Things continue to move forward as we see Elizabeth come in to her own and use her powers, I'm liking how her character has gotten stronger and has started to join in the fight. Plus Elaine has her moment too! Elaine seems to be a permanent fixture know and it should be interesting to see how she comes in to play and contributes to the group in the future.
As is usual for this series there's plenty of action in the volume courtesy of a fight with Melascula this time but the situation that we need to resolve will have to wait because we've got a bigger problem than helping out Camelot...Meliodas appears to have lost all control...again. This aspect is a smidge repetitive but it appears he's lost control worse than ever before, so much so that there's about to be a smack down the rest of the Sins.
Of course we're left on a cliffhanger and we get two cliffhangers for one with the bonus story also leaving us hanging! Volume 28 has a nice pace to it, and throws in a lot of action and a lot of answers to some questions we've had since early in the series! It appears that along with the Ten Commandments, we might be focusing on Meliodas and Elizabeth a bit more!

The Seven Deadly Sins may have ended the tyranny of The Ten Commandments for now, but that doesn't mean all is peaceful in the kingdom. Separated from the rest of The Sins, King and Diane strike a deal with former Commandments Gloxinia and Drole, and agree to undergo special training--which sends them to a Britannia 3,000 years in the past, right before the end of the Holy War! Can the pair navigate this strange past--and a threat more powerful than The Ten Commandments?
Okaaaaay, Gerhard immediately piqued my interest as soon as the volume opened, referring to some mysterious event that has something to do with Gloxinia. This volume as a whole kind of blew my mind because there are some reveals this volume that shocked me and changed my perspective on things.
The fast pace continues and it's King and Diane's time to shine as they battle it out with Gloxinia and Drole. But there's a shock twist and we get a nice flashback to 3000 years ago and what went down with them, not to mention a familiar face and Meliodas. I am definitely intrigued by the new information on Meliodas.
There's plenty of action which surprised me as I thought things might slow down after the last volume! But we get so much information and so many plot twists and reveals and blanks filled in it...it was a pretty epic volume! Not to mention the bonus story with Meliodas, King and Ban that had me chuckling!

Meliodas is back--and he's not the only one! As Meliodas faces off against Derieri and Monspeet, Merlin has reappeared for a showdown with Fraudrin and Gray Road, and this time, she's not playing fair. The tide has started to turn against The Commandments, but while victory seems to be within The Sins' reach, the captain isn't all he appears to be...
This volume is action packed from the start as Meliodas has a showdown with two of the Commandments but something is...off about him. Meanwhile everyone inside the palace has been captured by Grey Road and things don't look too good for them. Luckily Merlin makes a shock return...FINALLY. There's a surprise from her before we get to sit back and watch her let her magic loose. She's such a badass this volume and I ended up looking at her a little bit differently to how I have been before.
Good old Hendrickson gets his moment as he goes after Dreyfus/Fraudrin. I feel like Zaratras was back all of a sudden out of nowhere just for this particular moment. It was a bit convenient, as was the moment between Fraudrin and Griamore so I was kind of disappointed in that respect. Likewise Meliodas reappearing.
We do find out what the deal is with Meliodas, who's remained kind of a mystery throughout the series. Like we have gotten some information about him and his past but there's still so many questions. I'm kind of intrigued by the reveal about him because it'll be interesting in the future volumes to see how it plays out and what ends up happening to Meliodas. Quite the internal struggle on his hands plus we get to see two different sides to him this volume, one of which was more vulnerable than we've ever seen before.
So we get to see some different sides to the characters, and I ended up looking at both Merlin and Meliodas differently. Seeing the different sides, learning this new information about them, it paints them in a different light. Gowther however, remains shady AF. I'm kind of over him. Make him go away now! Things got super interesting for Howzer too and I'm looking forward to seeing him step up and get some more page time, hopefully! I've always been intrigued by his character. Although Gil is missing apparently?! Maybe he's just having a vacation.
One battle has ended but the war isn't over yet and the action could be shifting back to Camelot which means we'll hopefully get to see more of Arthur again!

With Meliodas out of commission after his battle with The Ten Commandments, it’s up to Elizabeth, Ban, and the rest of The Seven Deadly Sins to avenge him and bring him back. While Elizabeth, hoping to find the key that will bring Meliodas back to her, visits Meliodas’s memories, Escanor goes head-to-head with Estarossa, the Commandment of Love. Will Escanor’s pride prevail and bring him to victory, or will it lead to his downfall?
After the ending of the last volume, the wait for this one was pretty excruciating, I'm not going to lie! This volume certainly didn't disappoint either. There are some reaaaally nice parallels to how the series started, with a scary knight wandering about and showing up at the tavern. I actually really liked that whole scene, it was such a nice touch, and made me all nostalgic for the older volumes! It kind of gave a sense of how much things had changed too!
The wandering knight heralds a giant plot twist, and I genuinely screeched "WTF?!" out loud at the reveal. I still can't even. I mean technically it's not a new character, but I can't say much else because spoilers. But said newish character is pretty hilarious and I'm looking forward to seeing more of the character in the coming volumes, as well as a certain reunion!
With Meliodas down for the count, we get to go in to his memories and see what happened after Danafall, something I've been curious about for a long time. There's still a lot of mystery surrounding Danafall and we get a little piece filled in, as long as some background on Elizabeth. But it was nice to get to see more of Meliodas and his life, and how the Seven Deadly Sins came to be. The world and the characters are getting more and more fleshed out and little bits filled in with each of the volumes. Interestingly we get some more information on Meliodas and his curse and how it works.
While that's all going on, everyone else is pulling together to try to fight the Commandments. We don't see much of Gil, Ban and Howser but we do get a glimpse. Escanor gets a lot of page time this volume, and he gets his badass moment...sort of!
It really feels like we're starting afresh in this volume, a brand new chapter is beginning, the parallels to the first volume kind of underline it and it feels like everything is being manoeuvred in to place in this volume for the next stage of the story. Some pieces fall in to place with some revelations and everything's ready for the big showdown that's no doubt coming as our heroes you know...heroically fight back. We also get an intriguing little bonus story too that should prove to be interesting!

In order to protect the rest of The Seven Deadly Sins, Meliodas faces off against Gloxinia and Drole of The Ten Commandments alone. But just when he appears to have the upper hand, the remaining Commandments join the fray! Meliodas's demonic powers are strong, but will he be able to prevail when it's 10-versus-1? And when a secret from Meliodas's past is revealed, will The Seven Deadly Sins stay by his side?
So you guys may remember that Volume 21 left us hanging, it was cruel. It was mean. But we finally get to see what happens next! This volume has so much action and fighting throughout, and things get pretty dark, so fair warning.
After the end of last volume it seems that Meliodas has run out of patience and he's not f***ing around anymore. He even engages his whole dark mark thing but seems to be more aware than before either as a result of his power growth or because he's mastered it more. Not sure. Meliodas faces off against not just Drole and Gloxinia but all of the remaining Commandments. As you can imagine, the battle is pretty epic and there's a lot of twists and turns as the tide of power changes.
I'm not going to lie to you guys, my fave saved the day...or at least he tried. I love Ban and it was nice to see him get his hero moment, even if it didn't go quite as planned. Meliodas and Ban's friendship is one of my favourites in this series and last volume kind of spoiled me with it and then this volume and I was loving it. It's been nice to see the different facets of it and Ban's belief in his friend.
Things get pretty dark towards the end of this volume so the light hearted bonus story was definitely necessary. The story moves along with a one month time jump that's definitely changed things up just from the small glimpse we got! There's a nice big, shock plot twist too. I'm interested to see what's happened in the month we've missed and how the plot twist and time jump will have changed things. I'm hoping we'll get to see more of Arthur as we do get to know some interesting information about his cat friend, and I'm curious about how it's going to play out.
Arthur's fighting until the bitter end. The Holy Knights aren't safe anymore. The Commandments are running rampant. Our story has moved forward to a new place and we have to wait until next volume to see who's still alive, and what's going on with our group and how the dynamic of the story has changed.
I've said it before and I'll say it again...you can't just leave me hanging like that! What is it with manga and anime and these mean cliffhangers recently?! The wait between volumes is getting more and more painful as the story picks up and really starts to get serious.

The Fighting Festival between The Seven Deadly Sins and The Ten Commandments has finally begun! With The Sins and company divided into groups of two, they have no choice but to work separately as pairs in order to prove victorious in their duels against the other contestants. But when Gowther and Escanor are pit against each other, will they fall into The Ten Commandments’s trap and fight, or will their friendship be strong enough to get them through unscathed?
I remember watching this show on Netflix, I'd been intrigued by the trailer that they'd been constantly showing and decided to give it a try, and while I was a bit iffy at first, I ended up getting completely hooked. Then of course, once the anime ended I had to know what happened next so I started to read the manga...and here we are at Volume 21 already!
I've been so excited for this volume because of the end of last volume, with everyone getting paired up for the fighting festival. Like I've been so ready to see everyone throw down, I knew it was going to be awesome! I wasn't wrong. And it was nice to see Elaine and Elizabeth hold their own when they got dragged in to it!
I'm not going to lie to you guys, Ban and Meliodas are my BROTP. I love the two of them, they crack me up. They had me absolutely cackling in this volume, when they had a little spat during their fight, and they're like, *argues about who's girlfriend is better* and then five minutes later Ban's like "Why's this guy dead? Guess we won. Oh well". I was full on cackling. Only those two would accidentally kill an opponent while arguing between themselves.
We get to catch up with Denzel and co, and Guila who's in a crew with Gustaf (Jericho's brother) and a surprise relative of Elizabeth's which should be...interesting to see play out. I'm looking forward to seeing more of said relative, I was hoping we might get to see more of her after she showed up earlier on, I actually quite liked her and I'm intrigued to see what role she's going to play in the coming events and so on, and get to delve in to her character more!
Camelot has unfortunately fallen to Melioda's brother. Damnit Arthur. You had one job. Just one. I'm looking forward to seeing the gang inevitably take it back, but more importantly...I'm looking forward to seeing more of Arthur. Ever since he popped up I've been exited to see him and what he can do and so on, but I feel like he hasn't really had a chance to shine yet, so I'm hoping that next volume we'll finally get to see him in action, and see how he can contribute.
I have to say, Gowther gets more creepy with each volume. I actually quite liked him when he was first introduced but now he just plain creeps me out. Seriously. Then we get confronted with a new mystery involving him, and I'm like...part of me feels sorry for him..but most of me is just hugely creeped out and kinda wants to hand him over, mystery be damned.
One of the greatest parts of this volume, for me anyway, was finally getting to see some more of Escanor's background! I've been so curious about him, and then we finally get to meet him and he wasn't at all what I was expecting and I've been itching to know more about him and this volume really delivered for that. I'm also warming to Jericho more and more as the volumes go on, I wasn't sure I'd ever actually like her all that much but I'm slowly getting there and it's nice to see how her relationship with Ban has changed, and how they've finally bonded and become a team.
My main problem with this volume? When Escanor goes full badass and you're left hanging until next volume! Hello....you can't just bust that out and then leave it there!? It's just cruel! Although it's safe to say things are stepping up again, there's more going on, there's plenty of action again, we've got sub plots and little mysteries springing up. We're learning more about characters both new and old, and I'm excited to see what's going to happen next. There's certain events I'm looking forward to in particular, as well as seeing how the Commandments get taken down. Because we all know they will get taken down!
The Seven Deadly Sins is continuing to draw me in with the world and the characters, not to mention the action and the plots proceeding at a nice pace with plenty of things thrown in to keep you hooked!

Bookshelf Tour: Manga
Hey guys!
How's everyone's Monday going!? Today i'm giving you a mini bookshelf tour, or more accurately...a tour of one part of my bookshelf!
I asked you guys what you wanted to see and you where all eager to check out my Manga collection which is what you're getting today! You also wanted to have a nose at my graphic novel collection which I'll be doing soon! Let me know what other sections of my bookshelf you would like to see! Leather-bounds? Word Cloud Classics? Clothbounds? I might make it a regular thing if there's more bits you want to see!
So anyway, my manga collection! I usually get manga from the library because they can be expensive and a lot of them have so many volumes it's insane..Fairy Tail is one of them God help me! Recently I started to watch various different Anime shows thanks to Netflix, Seven Deadly Sins, Blue Exorcist and Fairy Tail are a couple I've watched! Seeing as how I loved the shows so much, I decided I needed to own the manga, I'm sure I'll come to regret my determination to collect Fairy Tail! I've not watched Seraph or Death Note yet I just liked the sound of them, I mean once I ventured in to the Manga section at Waterstones I kept spotting various different ones that are now on my list! As for Twin Star, that one I stumbled on when the Anime was announced! My collection isn't that big, but I'm working on it!
Fairy Tail is my current obsession, I'm not going to lie! I've slowly worked my way through the Anime and I'm very close to catching up but I'm trying really hard not to because then I'll have to wait for new episodes to be dubbed and I'm really impatient! I'm determined to collect the Fairy Tail manga because it's brilliant and funny and original and kind of addicting! The world is huge, there's always something happening and there are so many different kinds of magic in the world! I've only got 6 volumes though and there's like 50 and counting...pray for me!
In the land of Fiore wizards form in to Guilds, the biggest of all being the guild of Fairy Tail in Magnolia. Fairy Tail is full of the most powerful wizards and Lucy is determined to join! Luckily for her she bumps in to Natsu a Fairy Tail member, of course, she only comes across him when she gets in to trouble with a dodgy wizard and his gang of pirates. It's not long before Lucy becomes a part of Fairy Tail and the adventures begin. Warring Guilds, Dark Guilds determined to cause destruction and set demons loose, missions, mutiny and more!
Seven Deadly Sins is the Anime that started it all, I stumbled across it on Netflix because they where advertising it everywhere and watched it all in a couple of days and I completely loved it, I've been obsessed ever since! The manga was necessary because I'm impatient waiting for season two and ya know...adaptions are always a little bit different! I have way more chance of catching up to this and the others than I do Fairy Tail at this stage! This is fantasy, there's magic, it's funny, there's action and mystery and it's another original! It took me far too long to work out that the spines of these volumes make a picture!
The Seven Deadly Sins were once a group of elite Holy Knights in the region of Brittania, formed by criminals. They where forced to disband and flee the kingdom for their lives when accused of the murder of the Great Holy Knight and plotting to take over the Kingdom. The Holy Knights claim that they've been defeated, but rumours abound that they're still alive. Fast forward ten years and the Holy Knights are up to no good, staging a coup d'état and imprisoning the King leaving themselves in charge. The third princess of the Kingdom, Elizabeth, manages to get away and sets out to find the Sins to enlist their help in defeating the Holy Knights and taking back the Kingdom. Luckily for her it's not long before she stumbles across their Captain.
I watched the one off season of this in a couple of days and while I was unsure at first, it ended up being brilliant! Seeing as there would be no more Anime of it, I had to get the manga because I just need to know what happens next, although the Anime adaption is actually quite different! I gave up on watching Supernatural and this fills the SPN shaped hole in my life! I also love the full colour illustration in the front of each volume! The demons in this are original, and there's so many different kinds! You'll find a guide to them in the back of most volumes! It turns out it's inspired by a Brother's Grimm fairy tale, which makes it even more awesome!
Rin's always been a bit of a screw up when compared to his younger twin Yukio, forever getting in to trouble and letting his temper get the best of him. The twins where raised by Father Fujimoto, an exorcist and as we join the story Rin's having the rather awkward "Your real dad is Satan" conversation after an encounter with a demon. Yep the twins are the sons of Satan, however Rin is the only one who's inherited the power. When Fujimoto dies to save Rin, Rin does what he was forbidden to do by Fujimoto, he draws the demon-slaying blade Kurikara, which restrains his powers. From that moment his power has been unleashed. Rin is determined to become an Exorcist like Father Fujimoto, and become the strongest of all so he can defeat Satan. Rin ends up enrolling at the prestigious True Cross Academy, which is the cover for the Japanese branch of an international organisation of exorcists. While attending regular classes, Rin also attends special exorcists classes with a few others who's goal it is to become exorcists of varying different types. Turns out Rin's twin Yukio has actually been doing the Exorcist thing for years and is one of his new teachers, then there's also the whole "the people in charge don't know about you otherwise you'd be slightly less alive" thing.
This one is one that I wasn't entirely sure on. I ended up seeing the first few minutes of the Anime's first episode, but it hasn't been dubbed yet and I get too distracted by the animation and forget to read the subtitles! So I haven't watched the rest but the first few minutes looked really good, so I decided why not! Every manga I've picked up has been unique and original and this is no exception, the demons are different to the ones in Blue Exorcist and there's a different hierarchy to the exorcists and different mythology to it. I was definitely iffy at first, but it's been getting better and better! I was actually all caught up on this until volume 4 came out the other day!
Rokuro is from a family of exorcists and he's one of the best exorcists in the country, although after a tragic incident 2 years ago, he'd rather be anything but an Exorcist! Trouble is...being an Exorcist is the only thing he's actually good at. When new arrival Benio arrives on the scene and the two find themselves in more than one dangerous situation, Rokuro begins to rethink his decision to never be an Exorcist again. When an old enemy resurfaces....there's no decision left for Rokuro to make. Alongside all of that, it turns out Benio and Rokuro are the prophesied Twin Star Exorcists and are fated to be together. Awkward.
I found this one when I was browsing in Waterstones, and I watched the trailer for the Anime and it looked brilliant! I actually picked up volumes 5 and 6 from a charity shop looking like they'd never been read, and since I have and have read volume 1...those two volumes are staring at me begging to be read but I need to get the others first! This one's interesting because there's vampires and everything...but it's not the standard that you'd expect. This manga has a dystopian feel to the world when you read about what happened, but then it seems pretty normal at other points until a vampire bursts in! I'm not sure what to class this as, fantasy? Supernatural? Dystopian? Bit of everything? I think it's actually down as Dark Fantasy though so let's go with that!
It's the year 2012, and a catastrophic epidemic kills everyone over the age of 13, leaving vampires to rise up out of the recesses of the Earth, bringing age old horrors of the dark, thought to be myth, with them. The vampires take immediate control, enslaving what's left of humanity and taking them beneath the surface for safety. The price of this safety? Blood. That's the story everyone's been told anyway. Yuichiro and his friend Mikaela plot to escape along with the other children from their orphanage, but when everything goes wrong, Yuichiro is the only one to make it to the surface alive. It's there that he's rescued by the Moon Demon company, a vampire extermination unit of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army. It's through them that he learns everything they've been told by the vampires has been a lie. Four years later and Yuichiro has dedicated his life to destroying vampires and seeking revenge, he's determined to join the Moon Demon company, the best of the best. The only problem is he has a bit of a problem with team work.
Not going to lie, I still haven't read this yet. Why? Because I immediately saw this edition and decided it was the edition I needed, not only because it has both volumes 1 and 2, but because it's all black. The edges are sprayed black and everything, so of course I needed the fancy edition. So why haven't I read it yet? Because I'm trying to work out how the hell to read it without getting my grubby fingerprint marks all over it...yep, it's one of THOSE covers that refuses to have fingerprints wiped off! So yeah, I still need to read this one, but I've heard good things and it sounds awesome!
Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects. He's also totally bored out of his mind, that is...until he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook...dies. Now in possession of this notebook, Light has vowed to use it to rid the world of evil. But then criminals start dropping dead and the authorities send legendary detective L to investigate and track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal...or his life?
So there you have my rather small collection of Manga! I still have four of them to catch up on, Fairy Tail being the biggest challenge, but I'm sure I'll get there eventually! There's also plenty of others lurking on my amazon wishlist that I'd love to check out! Perhaps when I've built my collection more you'd like me to do an updated version? Or a part two with any new manga I get? We'll see! Next time, probably next week, I'll be doing my graphic novel collection, it's also not very big but oh well! Let me know what manga you love, hit me with your recommendations, and also let me know if you want to take a peek at what manga is on my wishlist, and what other collections of mine you'd like to see, if any!
