Review: Smoke and Iron

Smoke and Iron

The opening moves of a deadly game have begun. Jess Brightwell has put himself in direct peril, with only his wits and skill to aid him in a game of cat and mouse with the Archivist Magister of the Great Library. With the world catching fire, and words printed on paper the spark that lights rebellion, it falls to smugglers, thieves, and scholars to save a library thousands of years in the making... if they can stay alive long enough to outwit their enemies.

Fair warning, prepare yourselves for a bumpy ride this book, overall we're preparing for the grand finale of the series in the next book and everything is leading up to that, but the book itself is quite explosive on it's own.

Picking up from where we left off in the previous book, and Jess is playing quite the dangerous game. His POV honestly had me feeling so tense and on the edge of my seat waiting for something to go wrong. Things are really heating up this book and the stakes are high, seeing as how pretty much everyone is in danger at one point or another.

Along with Jess's POV, our main POV's are Khalila who gets her time to shine as she becomes the leader of the little group that is Dario, Santi, Thomas and Glain. I have to say, I'm really excited with where her story is going, I've been hoping for bigger things for her throughout this series and it seems like Caine is coming through. We also have Wolfe's POV which is quite dark, and Morgan. I really loved how the multi POV was utilised for this book.

We have a lot going on, it's all go from page one as each POV has a plan or goal to achieve and we see things being set in motion, threads woven in and the plan start to come together. We have the same POV for a few chapters, before switching to another POV for the next part and it really keeps you reading. We have piratical action from one group, more subtle, insidious plotting from others and the swift changes keeps the pace moving along so there's never a dull moment.

Then when we hit the final part of the book and the Feast of Greater Burning things step up even more, as we get Thomas, Santi and Glain as well as the previous POVs.

I love getting to see different parts of the world and how they've been changed by the Library, and subtly twisted to fit this world, and this time we get to see Spain, not as much of it as we got to see Philadelphia but we do get to explore it a little.

Our characters have been through a lot already but even in this book they still have more to get through. Khalila is becoming more and more a leader and she's not the only character to still be changing. Wolfe faces the darkness and so does Santi in his own way. As for Jess and his brother...I feel like their relationship has come a long way, and they make an excellent team and I did enjoy seeing them team up.

The pace is steady, building up towards the action at the end and the turning point of the series with sprinkles of action, deceit and betrayal throughout. The ending is certainly explosive but after being built up so much...perhaps a tad quick. But ultimately it wraps up some plot threads and weaves new ones in as one situation is partially under control...but there's trouble coming, one loose thread to deal with and things still need to be resolved.

Review: Ash and Quill

Ash and Quill

Held prisoner by the Burner forces in Philadelphia, Jess and his friends struggle to stay alive in the face of threats from both sides ... but a stunning escape guarantees worse is coming. The Library now means to stop them by any means necessary, and they'll have to make dangerous allies and difficult choices to stay alive.

They have only two choices: face the might of the Great Library head on, or be erased from life, and the history of the world, for ever.

Win or die.

When you play the game of libraries, you win or you die. Sorry. Had to. I had no willpower and couldn't resist. But wow you guys...this latest installment was mind blowing! The stakes have gotten so high and then the ending...I can't even.

We immediately meet Beck and his Burners and they're quite the bunch of assholes, I have to say. I really didn't like them at all. I kept waiting for the moment I'd suddenly take a liking to them after they turned out to not be so bad but that moment never came. Ever. Considering they want the information our team has...yeah. Assholes.

It's pretty much all go from page one in this book, the pace is fast, there's lots of plot twists and a Super Secret Dastardly Plan being hatched by Jess and Dario. Well more Jess. I don't think Dario contributed much. I feel like he was moustache twirling while Jess did. I don't think he got in touch with his villainous side enough! Either way, Jess has to put his villain hat on and start to go down a dark and lonely path in this book. Morgan's facing a dark path herself too and I'm desperately trying to think of a way out of it for her!

It was nice to see Jess and his brother bonding more in this book, I really want to like and trust and Brendan but he makes it so hard usually. However, in this book, he and Jess really did seem like brothers and they worked together and I'm hoping Brendan is now on the right team! He did give me pause though, for a moment or two.

After reading this volume, I really feel like Glain is coming to be my favourite character, don't get me wrong, I love our whole group and their interactions with each other and how they work together. They're all awesome. They're all growing and changing and going through crappy things, like Thomas for example. But Glain cracks me up to another level and I'm so ready for more of her!

I feel like the Ephemera notes at the beginning and throughout the book where more ominous and dire than usual. They've hinted at the struggles to come and the Library's course of action both past and present. Not to mention they've filled in a couple of relevant history tidbits and developments and I'm a sucker for any information on this world! I could read an entire book on the alternate history of the world of this book, quite happily! We always get the rid tidbits when we need them though, so it's probably best I don't get a chance to gorge on information!

We get to see a couple of new settings in this book, the Burner stronghold in Philadelphia which I had a mental image of that matched WW2 London to an extent. I got that vibe from it. We also got to see Callum Brightwell's new abode. I'm not really surprised is all I'm going to say. Nor am I surprised by his behaviour. We all saw it coming because we know how much of a monumental douche he is.

This book has a lot of dissent to it, people are turning on the Archivist Magister left, right and centre, including his own troops and more importantly...the leaders of various countries. It would appear people aren't happy with some of the Library's actions throughout the book, and I figured it was a matter of time before people started to rebel. But I have a feeling the AM is going to cling to power with his old, gnarled hands. Which is fine because I'm totally down with killing him and prying it from his cold, dead hands. I really hate him. Sorry not sorry. Either way, war is coming so the next book should prove to be even more interesting than this one!

Ash and Quill features the same rich storytelling as the other books in this series, painting a vivid picture and allowing you to walk the streets and buildings with the characters. The world of Ash and Quill is a world you can really step in to as soon as you start to read, and the writing style really fits with the world and the story being told. It's decadent and rich and has a quality feel to it that goes with all the old, classic, rare books mentioned throughout. It's written perfectly for a book about books and love of reading!

The world is being built up more and more as we venture to new settings, and the stakes are raised higher and higher in this book. With Ash and Quill we've reached a tipping point, and in the next volume things are going to get very real and very dangerous. Things progress in this volume, the story pushes forward, setting things up, namely the big war that's coming. But rather than just focusing on setting that up, we have other things going on as well that are relevant to the story, so we have an expertly woven plot.

The ending is brutal and the wait for the next book is going to be horrendous. Jess's devious plan comes in to effect but what are the consequences going to be and how is it going to play out? I have to say, Ash and Quill kept me hooked until the very end, and I was on the edge of my seat towards the end. I was frantically trying to work out what Jess was up to as well! I'm not as devious as him though...I really didn't see it coming.

The plot in this book is fast paced, but the over-arcing plot of the whole series is moving at a steady pace, each book has me more and more obsessed!

Spooktober Recommends: Vampires!

Hey guys!
Welcome to my first Spooktober rec post! I've got quite a few of these planned, I'm going to do a whole series of them and I figured rather than doing what I'd originally planned, you know, YA, Adult etc, I'd do something else instead!
First up for my recs are.....vampires! They're kind of a Halloween staple you know? So I figured I'd start with them.
Hopefully I've got all your vampire needs covered and I've got a mix of categories, although mostly YA as usual!

When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to advise Count Dracula on a London home, he makes a horrifying discovery. Soon afterwards, a number of disturbing incidents unfold in England: an unmanned ship is wrecked at Whitby; strange puncture marks appear on a young woman's neck; and the inmate of a lunatic asylum raves about the arrival of his 'Master', while a determined group of adversaries prepares to face the terrifying Count.

Of course we have to kick of this vampire rec session with the most famous vampire there is....good old Dracula! I read this a loooongg time ago and I completely loved it! It's essential Halloween reading!

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's the very place where they're most in danger. . . .Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires make Lissa one of them forever.

Hitting the lighter spectrum of the vampires, we have VA. I read this back when the vampire thing was a huge trend and I loved how original it was, and how different it was from the normal. It's a fun read and it's the first in a series so you can enjoy it for a while! There's humour and romance and plenty of intrigue and mystery!

Vampires-the Cursed Ones-have declared war on humanity. Most people are too afraid or unwilling to take a stand, but eighteen-year-old Jenn Leitner trains to become a vampire hunter, risking everything in the process. When Jenn falls for Antonio, a vampire fighting on the side of humanity, she discovers a love that transcends attraction and physical consummation. But the closer Jenn and Antonio become, the greater the danger. Together, they must fight for their love--and to bring light into the darkness the vampires have drawn over the face of the planet.

Another from the list of books I read a long time ago, again it's a nice unique look at vampires and it's such a brilliant read, there's tonnes of action and romance and it's got a nice dystopian kinda feel to it!

4. Chicagoland: Some Girls Bite

Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but I was doing fine until Chicago’s vampires announced their existence to the world. When a rogue vampire attacked me, I was lucky he only got a sip. Another bloodsucker scared him off and decided the best way to save my life was to make me the walking undead.

Now I’ve traded sweating over my thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan “Lord o’ the Manor” Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed,
four-hundred-year-old vampire, he has centuries’ worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects my gratitude—and servitude. Right…

But someone’s out to get me. Is it the rogue vampire who bit me? A vamp from a rival House? An angry mob bearing torches?
My initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war—and there will be blood.

I read another series by Neill and completely loved it, it was all supernatural and brilliant and so I've been eyeing up this series for a while. It's kind of a long one, but I've read the first chapter of this and it's on my eBook list for Spooktober! Knowing Neill it's going to be a lot of fun, and have humour as well as everything else!

5. Crave

When Savannah Colbert returns to school after a mystery illness, the fact that she has changed is clear to everyone. None more so than every school girls golden boy Tristan Coleman. Ever since their first kiss in fourth grade, Savannah and Tristan have been cruelly and inexplicably banned from associating with each other. Now, as the pair navigate the tricky social life of high school, the truth is about to be revealed.

As Savannah learns of their paranormal ancestry and Tristan deals with the repercussions of her new powers, the relationship they have been denied for so long becomes utterly irresistible and all consuming. Like Romeo and Juliet centuries before them, Savannah and Tristan’s love is destined to fail; and Tristan’s powerful magical family, the Clann, are watching.

Okay. So, I know it sounds kind of cheesy and cliche, and I did read this a while ago back when it first came out so I was a lot younger BUT it was a good read, and there was an originality to it that made it a fun read! Also it's totally vampire-y even though it doesn't sound it!

6. Glass Houses: Morganville Vampires

College freshman Claire Danvers has had enough of her nightmarish dorm situation. When Claire heads off-campus, the imposing old house where she finds a room may not be much better. Her new roommates don't show many signs of life, but they'll have Claire's back when the town's deepest secrets come crawling out, hungry for fresh blood. Will she be able to face the town's terror or will she drown like everyone else?

Okay so I think a town that's run by vampires and is full of you know...vampires, qualifies as a good Halloween vampire read! I love the twists Caine has given these books as the series has gone on, and the books are a lot of fun with plenty of lively characters, my particular favourite is the ever Gothic Eve!

It is 1888 and Queen Victoria has remarried, taking as her new consort Vlad Tepes, the Wallachian Prince infamously known as Count Dracula. Peppered with familiar characters from Victorian history and fiction, the novel follows vampire Geneviève Dieudonné and Charles Beauregard of the Diogenes Club as they strive to solve the mystery of the Ripper murders.

Anno Dracula is a rich and panoramic tale, combining horror, politics, mystery and romance to create a unique and compelling alternate history. Acclaimed novelist Kim Newman explores the darkest depths of a reinvented Victorian London.

This is a series everyone raves about, and after reading Newman's Drearcliff novel, I'm excited to get stuck in to this, this Halloween! I feel like this is possibly a modern classic, and it's certainly a vampire classic! After reading Drearcliff, I feel pretty confident rec-ing this to you guys even though I haven't read it yet!

The Drakes are rather different to your usual neighbors. They are vampires and some of the members of the family date back to the twelfth century. One of the children, Solange, is the only born female vampire known and, as such, she poses a direct threat to the vampire queen. Her best friend Lucy is human, and when Solange is kidnapped, Lucy and Solange's brother, Nicholas, set out to save her. Lucy soon discovers that she would like to be more than just friends with Nicholas. But how does one go about dating a vampire? Meanwhile, Solange finds an unlikely ally in Kieran, a vampire slayer on the hunt for his father's killer.

So, I had quite the vampire phase back around the Twilight era, and this book is one of the first I read in the genre after Twilight. This is another one at the lighter end of the spectrum, it's fun, it's got it's original twists to it, and it's an entertaining read! I love Alyxandra's books because she always makes them fun and original!

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.

Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for…again.

Julie Kagawa is another favourite author of mine, and I'm definitely due a re-read of this trilogy at some point! Kagawa always delivers, romance, humour, originality and writing that makes the book hard to put down!

In a darkened room a young man sits telling the macabre and eerie story of his life - the story of a vampire, gifted with eternal life, cursed with an exquisite craving for human blood.

Yep, not much for the synopsis but spoilers so you're gonna have to deal! Although some of you may or may not have watched the movie, the book is still worth a read! It is, after all, the original! It's also a vampire classic, and therefore kind of a Halloween classic!

There's a tonne of other vampire books out there but I've had to narrow it down to ten otherwise we'd be here all month! Keep an eye on my blog, as I've got plenty more rec posts coming your way, plus other fun Spooktober things!

Review: Paper and Fire

Paper and Fire
Rating: 5/5

With an iron fist, The Great Library controls the knowledge of the world, ruthlessly stamping out all rebellion, forbidding the personal ownership of books in the name of the greater good.

Jess Brightwell has survived his introduction to the sinister, seductive world of the Library, but serving in its army is nothing like he envisioned. His life and the lives of those he cares for have been altered forever. His best friend is lost, and Morgan, the girl he loves, is locked away in the Iron Tower and doomed to a life apart.

Embarking on a mission to save one of their own, Jess and his band of allies make one wrong move and suddenly find themselves hunted by the Library’s deadly automata and forced to flee Alexandria, all the way to London.

But Jess’s home isn’t safe anymore. The Welsh army is coming, London is burning, and soon, Jess must choose between his friends, his family, or the Library willing to sacrifice anything and anyone in the search for ultimate control…

When I read the first book in this series, it took me a little while to get in to it. I'm a huge fan of Rachel Caine and her books and she's one of my auto-buy authors, but even if she wasn't, I'd still have picked up Ink and Bone for the premise. Once the book got going...it hooked me in even deeper. The thing that grabbed me about the first book was the world. It was original and fascinating and rich and you wanted to know more about it, so while not much happened in the beginning...you kept reading for the world.

In this book, it's action packed from the start, and all go from then on. There Epehmera's are intriguing and add to the story, help you understand characters motivations and what's going on behind the scenes, they're a nice touch that breaks up the narrative and provides plenty of information. There are plenty of action scenes throughout the book, fighting, running from automata, fighting automata and a prison break among other things. I was hooked in to the sequel a lot faster than the previous book! The last book ended with a note of intrigue and my suspicions turned out to be correct! There where a few surprises in this book, and a few that I worked out, but it kept you guessing, kept you reading.

I loved being back in the unique world of the book, it's one of my favourites and I'd love to slip in to it! In this book, we get to see more of the world as our characters take a trip to Rome. I was fascinated to see this new area of the world, what it was like, how it was different and so on. It was a nice contrast to Alexandria, I liked the fact the automata differed for instance. We also get to revisit London and there's the promise of seeing yet more of the world in the next book, which I can't wait for! Things are obviously different in Alexandria, to how they are in London and Rome and the differences between them where interesting to read about, and each setting is painted vividly for you as you end up right there with the characters.

I love the characters. Not just their personalities and everything, but I love their friendships. Dario and Jess, sniping at each other, but still caring. Their banter cracks me up every time and I love thier scenes together. Khalila and Jess and their brother and sister type relationship, worrying after each other. All of them have brilliant relationships with each other, and in some cases they are quite complex. There's a lot of Jess and Glain in this book as we follow them through training and their first assignment, I loved their scenes together, and seeing how they work together and get on. It was nice to see more of Glain as she intrigued me a lot in the first book! I just love reading about this group in general, how they interact, how they're loyal to each other after everything they experienced in the first book and so on.

Jess is a character I can feel for, how his family treat him and so on, you can't help but feel for him. He's changed in this book after the events of the first book, he's developed from the character he was when we first saw him. Dario provided some shocks and surprises, and bless him, he keeps trying to be more like Jess and it's not really working out for him! He's plenty intelligent and capable on his own and he really does care about the others. Khalila makes some big decisions and she is one of my favourite characters, she had some hard choices to make and I love how she's there for everyone. Thomas (I KNEW IT) has changed a little after his experiences, but I'm waiting to see the full extent of that, perhaps in the next book. Morgan is struggling with her fate, and still blaming Jess and goes on a bit of a journey regarding that. I enjoy her and Jess's relationship, it's not without it's problems and difficulties, and they're quite sweet with each other. Santi and Wolfe...I just love them both individually and together. Santi is so protective of him, and they work well together and they're SO CUTE. Which they probably wouldn't like as a descriptor but oh well. I love how Wolfe is kind of gruff and everything but he does care about them all and he helps Morgan as best he can. Santi...he's trying to help Glain and Jess and all of them, and I loved how he was like to Jess, "I like you" or something.

I need to talk about Brendan because we get an extract from his Codex and I really felt for him. I feel for Jess and how he's treated, but you see another side of Brendan in this book. You understand where he's coming from. I really hope things work out for him and he can be reunited with his new friend at some point. I didn't much like him in the first book but in this book you saw glimpses of a different Brendan. He was still a douche at points, he did the right thing in one case and tried to do it in another but didn't quite manage it. He wanted to help Jess but couldn't go against their father. He's an interesting character because I keep rooting for him to do the right thing, and he seems like he might. I'm actually hoping to see more of him next book and hopefully see some more character development.

The ending of the book...I cannot even with that cliffhanger. I KNEW something was going to go wrong and then it did. I'm hoping things will work out because they could use the help of the Burners, but I'm not entirely sure if it's going to be much better than Jess's original plan with his dad. We'll see. But it leaves you hanging so badly! I'm so excited to see what happens next, to see if they can fight the Library and to see this new part of the world of the book and how it differs from the others. I love this world so much and I can't wait to get back to it.

Paper and Fire is a brilliant sequel, with more action, more adventure, more danger and more of, well...everything. More background to the Library and the people in charge, more background to some of the characters, Wolfe in particular. There's reveals and character development and glimpses of some characters trying to be better. You understand some of the characters more. Understand more about the past of the Library and the way it operates. There is so much more in this book to enhance the world and the characters, and plenty of action to keep you occupied!

Wishing For Wednesday #93

Hey guys!
How's everyone doing?! After a quiet week last week feeling sorry for myself, I'm getting back to normal this week and I have a brand new WFW post for you! I've really sucked at this because I keep forgetting about it and I usually schedule it ahead but yeah. I'm way in to the future with book releases anyway so it doesn't really matter!
First up this week I've got a nice little companion to a series I know a lot of you love and it  should be a fun read! It sounds like it's going to be completely gorgeous too!
Secondly I've got one of my anticipated sequels, I completely loved the first book once I got in to it and I'm eager to see what happens next!

The Ever Never Handbook

Every four years, two Reader children are kidnapped and brought to the School for Good and Evil to be trained for a life in a fairy tale. There, Evers and Nevers take courses in Animal Communication and Uglification, among others. The highest ranked students become the heroes and villains of the fairy tales — while the lowest, well, we don’t want to talk about what becomes of them.

This handbook contains the scoop students need in order to get to the top of their class — the fairy tales you need to know, the myths it’s dangerous not to know, spells you won’t live without, Who’s Who and What’s What, and much more. And of course, it’s all in glorious color because in the School for Good and Evil, nothing is black and white.

Top Ten Tuesday: 2015 Releases I Meant To Get To But Didn't

Hey guys,
It's time for another Top Ten Tuesday!

So, as we all know, none of us can read every book ever! We all have pretty hefty TBR's and if you don't I'm jealous! Mine is like four freaking shelves, because all the review books get priority! ANYWAY! This should have been hard to do but nope!

1. Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge
I actually really wanted to read this, but I never actually got around to actually you know....buying it! I still need to read the other book as well! Hashtag fail.

2. The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows
I was SO excited for this book but again.....never actually got around to buying it even though I told myself I was going to and then read it straight away!

3. Hidden Huntress by Danielle L. Jensen
Completely freaking loved the first book and have no excuse whatsoever for not getting around to the second book! I need to get a shift on because the third book is out this year I think?

4. Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot
Okay so, I would have read this one, but then I wanted to re-read at least the last two Princess Diaries books, but I can't locate them. Before I had my shelves built in the Summer books where scattered everywhere and they've been misplaced SO still not read it.

5. The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
Everyone raved about this book and I was so desperate to get started on it, but money! Then I got it in Book Depository's Black Friday deals but i'd already decided on my December TBR and just...never got to it! This year though! Especially as the second one is coming out!

6. Soundless by Richelle Mead
I don't know how the frickety frack I never got to this because I freaking love Richelle Mead and this book is full of Chinese mythology and legends and stuff so I don't know what the hell went wrong with this one!

7. Menagerie by Rachel Vincent
Another for the "I don't know how the hell I didn't get to it" pile. Love Rachel Vincent, I've been eagerly awaiting this....but it never happened!

8. Shutter by Courtney Alameda
I actually bought this specifically for Halloween as one of my Halloween reads but everything went wrong with November and I fell so far behind and this kind of just....got forgotten about!

9. Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine
Freaking love Rachel Caine, I love the premise for this book it's so interesting and yet....there it sits. On my TBR. Staring at me accusingly.

10. Silver in the Blood by Jessica Day George
This one interested me and I really wanted to get to it and buy it and read it and everything but never quite happened.

So all in all I kinda failed this month, so many books from my fave authors that I never actually read when really....I should have read them straight away!

Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR

I'm back with TT Tuesday, I know I said I'd do it more regularly and then I failed pretty spectacularly...but here we go! Don't forget to comment telling me your Fall TBR books! I don't know why I'm saying Fall....I'm British, we say Autumn!

So, my Fall TBR, there's a fair few books on it and picking just 10 is haaaaarrrrrdddd, but I've managed. A couple of them are ones I've been sent to review but most are not!

1. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
So basically, I have my TBR arranged in to "Next In Series" "First In Series" and "Stand Alone", because I'm fancy like that. This is in the "First In Series" TBR and I kinda wanna read all the next in series books first....but there's a read along for this going on over on Tumblr and I'm so intrigued I don't think I can wait.

2. Night School: Endgame by C.J. Daugherty
So, this has been sitting on my shelves for ages and it's the last in one of my favourite series so I'll definitely be getting around to this in the near future.

3. Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch
I've been lucky enough to receive an ARC of this therefore I'm gonna be reading it super early because I can. But first I'll be re-reading the first book because I have the time for once!

4. The Sword Of Summer by Rick Riordan
Again, super lucky and received an ARC....definitely have no self control and will end up reading this really early! I'm so excited for this! I'm such a Percy Jackson fangirl and I've been waiting for this entirely new series for ages I mean...this one is all Norse mythology and Gods and I can't even with the excitement!

5. The Fiery Heart/Silver Shadows/The Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead
I should probably have done this separately, but I didn't so whatever. I've probably mentioned before how these are the last three in a series, and like literally the last half of that series, and I never got round to them and then everyone was freaking about the end of the fifth book so I thought I'd wait until the last one was out then read them all together....

6. Legacy Of Kings by Eleanor Herman
Does this need an explanation? Reimagining of Alexander the Great...it'd be rude not to.

7. The Wrath and The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
Everyone's been raving about this so I decided to bump it up the TBR!

8. Ink And Bone by Rachel Caine
First book in a new series by one of my favourite authors....definitely merits a bump.

9. Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
This is yet another book getting a bump from me because I'm impatient and everyone raves about this one!

10. Kiss Of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
My aunt brought me the fancy hardback edition of this straight from Barnes and Noble Texas, again, this is another book everyone on Tumblr has been raving about so it gets a bump.

All in all it's highly doubtful I'll stick to my system and read all the next in series books first because I keep bumping other books :')
Ah well, GoodReads pages are linked. Go forth and swell your TBRs!

Wishing For Wednesday #46

Hey guys!
This week I've got two books I'm really excited for and I think you guys are going to love them!
First up is a steampunk type mystery that sounds original and fun!
Second is a book, the first in a new series, I think, by an author that I love! I've been waiting for this one for ages and I'm literally counting down the days!

The Affinity Bridge

Welcome to the bizarre and dangerous world of Victorian London. Airships soar in the skies, whilst ground trains rumble through the streets. But beneath this shiny veneer of progress lurks a sinister side. Queen Victoria is kept alive by a primitive life-support system while her agents Sir Maurice Newbury and his assistant, Miss Veronica Hobbes, do battle with enemies of the crown, both physical and supernatural...

Ink and Bone

In an exhilarating new series, New York Times bestselling author Rachel Caine rewrites history, creating a dangerous world where the Great Library of Alexandria has survived the test of time.…

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the Library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly—but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden.

Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the Library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market. Jess has been sent to be his family’s spy, but his loyalties are tested in the final months of his training to enter the Library’s service.
When he inadvertently commits heresy by creating a device that could change the world, Jess discovers that those who control the Great Library believe that knowledge is more valuable than any human life—and soon both heretics and books will burn.…
