Book Discussion: Slayer!

It's time for a new book discussion and this time I'm discussing one of my most anticipated reads of the year...Slayer by Kiersten White! 

I'm a huge Buffy fan and when I first heard about this series? I lost my mind a little bit, not least because Kiersten is the author writing it and she's awesome! 

I was gifted a copy for my birthday and pretty much read it as soon as I got it in one day and I just...I loved it okay. 

It just fits in so well with the Buffy-verse and I loved the characters...even the ones I hated, and I'm waiting with baited breath for the next book to see what will happen next as the ending was...A+ and definitely sets things up to get even better!

Book Talk: Dead Of Winter

Hey guys! 
I'm back with another book talk, although most of this will be ragey OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE THE AUTHOR DID THAT! 

The Arcana Chronicles was a book that I discovered at the library, I got the first one, read it, loved it...then the second one came out and I immediately grabbed it from the library and re-read the first one before reading the second. Then I went out and bought my own copies because I freaking loved the books. Original, funny, perfect romance, action and more, there was so much to love. 

I've been waiting with baited breath for the third book, I mean Cole knows how to leave a book on a frickin cliffhanger and leave you desperate for the next book!
I don't know why I thought it was a trilogy so I thought Dead of Winter was the FINAL book and as I started reading I was like...this can't be the final..there's too much....so I went to GoodReads. Turns out two more books have been added. I'm even more like OMG because there's so much to this story that still needs to be told and I'm thinking about the other two books and the cliffhangers to come kinda excited but also full of dread. 

The first thing I need to say is omg the covers! I like things to match, like it drives me up the wall that the first three Mortal Instruments books I have are a small, regular paperback whereas the others are bigger paperbacks if you know what I mean? My Vampire Academy books...I had like three or four different covers until I chucked them and bought the new covers. So I'm thinking, okay, it's the final book in a trilogy and they got new covers....that makes no sense but okay. NOW I know there's two more books which means I'm gonna have to get book one and two in the new covers, I can't even. WHY COVER CHANGE WHY!? 

I wanted to re-read the first two but I didn't have time and I'm kinda sad about it because I really have the burning urge to re-read the other books. It didn't really matter because it was easy to slop back in to the world of the book and everything came flooding back, I mean the ending on the second book!? As I was reading and getting more and more engrossed it just all came flooding back how much I loved the first two books. 

Jacks back, he wasn't in the second book much because it was all about Death, mostly. The second book presented me a conundrum. I couldn't choose between Death and Jack. Like usually I can pick a team, but it was really hard and then in this one things are resolved and you get Jack's side but I STILL COULDN'T DECIDE. Like I kept switching as I read and things kept happening so I don't know how the hell Evie chose to be honest. 
It was freaking intense. 

So I'm merrily reading, feeling all the feels, loving it getting closer and closer to the end like okay...this is fine, maybe no cliffhanger. I was wrong. There was a cliffhanger. I cannot even with it, I'm still not calm. I threw this freaking book so freaking hard (on to my bed so I wouldn't damage it) and screamed "NOOOOO" Luke Skywalker style. WHO ENDS A BOOK LIKE THAT?! WHO!? Hell no. HELL TO THE FREAKING NO. Not today Satan, I'm pretending that never happened. Nope. Not at all. I don't even know when the next book is out and I can't even with the wait after that ending, that was like some cruel and unusual punishment! I WILL NEVER BE OVER THIS!  

Book Talk: Witch Hunter

Hey guys, I'm back with another book talk! 
As I have more time now to read books off my TBR, and I have a strong need to fangirl after most of them, I'm thinking of making this a regular thing because then we can all fangirl together, even if I'm ya know....a bit late to the game with some of them! 

Today I'm going to be talking about Witch Hunter, because OH MY FREAKING GOD HOW DID I NOT READ IT SOONER?! I wanted to read it so badly, but I didn't get around to reading it until the other day. I bought it finally because I was like "Oh I may as well buy it because ya know...Halloween!" so I FINALLY bought it but it's taken me this long to read it and I kinda wanna smack myself for taking so long to read it but then at the same time....the wait until the next book is less I suppose?! 

I don't know how the hell I'm going to wait until June for the next book because I'm so eager to get back to the world of the book. I freaking love original and different books and this is one of those fo sho guys! 

This is the point when I should mention this won't be spoiler free because I can't avoid spoilers while freaking the hell out! 

I'm reading and I'm reading and I'm like "yep, yep, loving this" I wasn't too sold on shipping her with Caleb because I was like "dude you're being a douche" with the whole leaving her in prison thing and everything. I wasn't sure if it was gonna be a love triangle or what and it wasn't and I'm kinda glad the book went that way because it ended up SO AWESOME and the romance was SO CUTE. Although with what went down with Caleb, my heart freaking broke for Elizabeth! BUT BUT BUT, like.....he can't be dead right?! I'm feeling like Caleb is alive because Blackwell probably saved him but then maybe that's what the author wants us to think and really he is actually did or I don't even know! 

I got so completely sucked in to the world and attached to all the characters it was insane, Elizabeth is my new fave, not gonna lie. Badass, strong, freaking awesome. Not to mention funny! Completely my fave, her narrative gave me life and I miss her already, I got way too attached to her considering she's a fictional character not gonna lie. 

I shipped her and John to another level, like in the beginning I wasn't sure who the romance was gonna be with because for a while there was always a chance it could be Caleb but then that got nipped in the bud. But like once I saw her and John together I was like "yaaaaaaaasssss!" because like he so obviously liked her from the beginning and it was SO CUTE! There where so many warm and fuzzies all up in the book guys. Seriously. PERFECT FREAKING ROMANCE AND I WANT THEM BACK TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS WITH THEM NEXT. 

OH OH OH and Schuyler and Fifer....ARE YOU A THING?! YOU'RE A THING RIGHT?! YOU ARE YOU ARE I SWEAR! Like I wasn't sure for ages. They where all kind of coupley and bantering with each other and I was like "you two had better be together" and then I wasn't sure and he was all flirty with the nymphs. But then as the book went on I was like "YOU TOTALLY ARE A COUPLE OH MY GOD YOU'RE ALL CONNECTED AND HE CAN HEAR YOU FROM AGES AWAY OMG CUUUUUTTTEE" damn am I hoping for more of those two in the next book! 

I freaking loved Fifer as well, I was waiting for her to warm up to Elizabeth and when she saved Fifer's life, I freaking loved the friendship that started forming. Fifer defending her, comforting her when she was all upset, being all buddy buddy the next morning and then insisting on going with her along with John and George. I freaking LOVED IT. Not to mention Elizabeth's friendship with George. Like, perfect friendships, perfect group. I love all of them together guys, so much. 

I loved the dark twists to this book and I was so surprised by the thing with the King, I didn't see that coming, honestly I didn't. That was the last thing I was expecting when reading the blurb. Although I'm kind of intrigued, like not in a weird way, but like it just seems like the two of them had a lot of little conversations. I'm SO not here for him being one part of a triangle between her and John in the second book, like the thought did cross my mind when Blackwell was like "he likes you" or whatever, like it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could be but I'm hoping not! ANYWAY. Many surprises guys. 

This book was freaking full OF INTRIGUE AND FEELS. SO MANY FEELS. Couldn't stop reading and I finished it at like 3am, kinda feels. Especially the saying bye to Caleb and then being on the bad guys side and then getting slashed by the sword. LOVED the legend to the sword by the way. 

We need to talk about page 397 though guys. That bit DESTROYED ME. Like Elizabeth I still thought she was in the illusion and then the leg stabby bit happened and like all of that was going down and I was still half thinking she was in the illusion and none of it was real, and then when the thing with Caleb happened, I realised it was all real and I genuinely had to throw the book down on the bed and sit and have a breather before carrying on. I can't even with that bit of the book, seriously. I CAN'T EVEN. Genuinely couldn't handle it! 

I can't even with the next book either and I've only read the freaking synopsis for it because clearly Elizabeth is going to be sent to assassinate Blackwell and like clearly there's going to be danger to her and probably John and everyone else. Then there'll be a showdown with Caleb if he isn't dead and I can't even. I loved how Witch Hunter ended it was kind of wrapped up but with threads for the next book and the possibilities for the next book are endless and I just can't even wait. GIVE IT TO ME NOW OH MY GOD PLEAAAASEEE!

Book Talk: A Mad Zombie Party

Right guys. 
I'm not reviewing this I just want to discuss it because I JUST GOT AROUND TO READING IT AND OH MY GOD! I finally got around to it, this is essentially going to be a concise bout of fangirling and hoping someone else has read this and can relate! 

I'm trying to remain calm but I really can't even! 
I was apprehensive going in because I love the first three books and I shipped Kat and Frosty so bad and I hated what happened so I really wasn't sure how I'd feel reading this book to be honest. The entire time I'm reading I have this sense of...I don't know. Once I started to get to know Milla and her background and saw what she was like, I really liked her and her and Frosty where so cute and everything. The entire time I'm reading though....I just felt a bit sad because of him and Kat. They really where my fave in the first three books!

Frosty in the beginning though made me so sad and then he and Milla and how he came back to being himself and just. PAIN. ANGST. MY FEELS. PERFECTION. Seeing what everyone's been up to as well, since the last book. I wasn't really sure what could really happen next, but then the whole thing in the other book wasn't really a sensible idea so I can't believe I didn't see this coming to be honest, it was good though! 

So I got on the Milla and Frosty train and I loved it and it was cute, and watching it all develop was completely adorable. It was really weird getting Frosty's POV to be honest. I wasn't sure how it was going to be done, I expected Milla's POV I guess, but it was fun getting both and seeing what they think of each other and just SO CUTE! 
I kinda wish we'd gotten Cole's POV in the other books now, especially in book two! So. Much. Angst. 

This book for me was pure fangirling. Not going to lie. Freaking Frosty's name. We get Frosty's real name. I wasn't sure it was going to happen and when we find out I was like OH MY GOD. OMGGGGG! FINALLY! There wasn't much Cole and Ali, I wasn't really expecting there to be, which made me kind of sad because they're my favourite two, but I fangirled hard whenever they where in the book! 

I think this book wrapped up everything really nicely, a lot better than the third book. Like before we knew there was going to be a fourth book, I read the third one, obviously, and I was happy. I loved it. But with how it all ended it was wrapped up but not really. I didn't feel like it had been completely done, door shut on it all and everything. This book really wraps up everything nicely, a lot better than the third book. Seeing what happens to them after the books though. I can't even. 

THEN KAT. When I read her bit at the end I was like oh my God no, I can't believe that, how can you do that to us Gena?! Gutted. Her and her object of affection would have been adorable. Or at least fun to watch! 

Overall I'm kinda left feeling a bit bereft now it feels like it really is over and like I said I loved the book but it also made me sad while I was reading too! It did make me laugh a lot though, there's so much banter and it's definitely dodgy to read these books in public. Not gonna lie. 

OH OH OH, ALSO......Kenzie and her new friend. AAAAAWWWWW! AND AND AND, the first freaking chapter of her new book I'm just like GIVE IT TO ME NOW!  Ugh. So good. Gena has originality in her books freaking COVERED.
