Chiho has collapsed, and Maou and company have figured out that it must be the work of an Angel. The only thing left to figure out is whether they're holed up in Tokyo Tower or the Sky Tree. When the group finally finds whoever's responsible for hurting their friend, the ultimate Maou/Alciel combo is going to paint the town red!
Every time I read a volume of this series, I lament the fact that it still hasn't gotten a second season of anime...it really is such a gem and this volume is no exception.
Volume 11 opens with quite the battle...I mean, shopping trip. You could be forgiven for the mistake with how our little group, some more than others, carries on! They quite brutally exposed sales people and their methods....I've worked in 3 different stores and can confirm the accuracy of their statements too. *nervous chuckle* I have to say, much as I love Maou....Ashiya continues to be my favourite because of situations exactly like in this volume. He just cracks me up.
Speaking of Maou....he's suprisingly perceptive, even if he goes about voicing it the wrong way. I mean, we all know Rika has a thing for Ashiya. Unfortunately Maou has a tendency to be a bit too blunt about things, and Suzuno....well she gets a bit violent because of it. They do have quite an interesting discussion about what they are and what they should do with erasing Chi's memories and so on. They got quite deep actually, I didn't think Maou was quite capable of that!
It's actually quite nice to see Suzuno has gotten to know Maou and co well enough to know he isn't behind what's happened to Chiho, it saves us quite a bit of time. It really hit me in the feels this volume, how far their bond as a group has come!
We're straight in to the next story arc this volume, Raguel has made his move, and it isn't long before the gang figures out he's after Emilia's mother, Laila. There's some interesting reveals about Emilia and her family that leaves her (and us) with a lot to think about. Alongside that we get a nice bit of action as Maou Devils-out and goes up against Raguel and Gabriel!
I have to say, Gabriel is so irritating and he's not above getting a verbal jab in at any of the demons. He also drops loads of hints, like okay mate, have a day off. *Eye roll*.
Volume 11 is fast paced, with the usual doses of humour that have you laughing out loud, as well as some drama and action...and some twists and developments to liven things up. There's a particular development with Chiho that could prove to be interesting...things have certainly picked back up for this series!

The Devil goes digital!

Repairs to Devil's Castle, Maou's one-bedroom apartment in Japan, are complete--and now it's outfitted with an all-new HD socket! The Devil King's never owned a TV before, so once he's armed himself with all the knowledge he needs, he's off to the electronics outlet. With Lucifer the only one home, what will happen when a certain angel makes an unexpected visit...?

Okaaayyy so this volume is a little slow, we're obviously still setting up for the next big story arc. Everyone's settling back in to town in this volume, and not much really happens, I'm not going to lie. There's some fun little bonus chapters at the end, and as usual, this volume made me chuckle over and over!

Gabriel...he annoys the hell out of me mmmmkay? Plus he provides some sinister news. I think we're going to be seeing more of him. *sigh* Poor old Lucifer is forever being picked on. But he is super relatable. He got the same reaction that I get when I try to explain Pokemon go to people...over a certain age, shall we say. I couldn't help but chuckle! We also get a wee bit more background on him, which was nice because he's totally my favourite!

Maou is determined this volume, he will finally have a TV! Can't blame him for wanting one, he clearly wants to catch up on Supernatural. Ashiya ends up calling in Rika for help, and Rika has a little bit of a crush on Ashiya, and I actually kind of ship them, it's totally cute and it's going to be hilarious because I have a feeling Ashiya is going to be completely oblivious!

All in all, volume 10 provides more humour, and some cute, fun scenes! While not much does happen, we're clearly setting up and getting ready for the next story arc, I kinda wish this volume and volume 9 had been combined in to one! Hopefully things will get more exciting next volume! This was a bit more slice of life than supernatural action!

Manga: The Devil Is A Part-Timer Vol 9

The Devil King's on the beach, but there's no time to relax! People are packed into the eatery, and Maou's crew can barely keep up with the demand. Looks like the girls will have to come to their rescue! Everything's fun on the shore, but with the appearance of Maou's military adviser, is there trouble on the horizon?

The Devil is a Part-Timer is my go to series when I need a laugh and a pick me up! I find it completely hilarious, and it always makes me chuckle. I love the mix of humour and action each volume has, and this one is no different.

We open on absolute chaos and poor little Urushihara is completely overwhelmed, more so than the other two boys. Business is booming and they can't cope all on their own...so it's just as well Emi, Chi and Suzuno come to the rescue.

I'm not going to lie, Lucifer is my favourite. He cracks me up, he's just so funny, although I'd love to know more about him back in the demon realm and how he fit in with all the others. Judging from the greetings and reaction he got in this volume he wasn't taken as seriously as Alciel and the others. We get to meet Camio, Maou's military adviser in this volume, who's got to help him put down an uprising of sorts.

One of my favourite moments? Getting to see Alciel being a mildly terrifying badass...moments after he tripped over his own feet and fell face first in to the sand. He's definitely my second favourite. I find it funny that he was Maou's enemy and now he's all like "maaaster!". I'm a bit disappointed Maou sent the sword off with Camio because it could have been interesting if he'd had his own and if it helped him access his power but whatever.

This volume ends the beach arc as the gang head home after we learn some interesting information about Amane and who she is. We get some action and some badass moments for the characters, as well as some more mystery and questions to be answered. The pace could do with picking up a little bit, but I'm still enjoying every volume!
