Spooktober Recommends: Zombies & All Things Creepy

Okay so...today's rec post is kind of a mix of things! I was going to do Zombies separately to the monsters/creepy/etc rec post, but turns out there aren't enough days in the month for all the rec posts that I have planned for you guys, and the reviews and the discussions...so here we go!
First up I'm gonna hit you guys with Zombies, and I only came up with four. I know there are more, but I've only read four. So...I need to work on that clearly!

Zombies *undeadly groan*

She won't rest until she's sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

If anyone had told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that's all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real.

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn't careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies.

This is one of my favourite series, I'm not going to lie, I stumbled across it at the library and completely loved it. Sure it has the tendency to be a little cheesy, but it's a great series, honest! It has a brilliant twist on zombies, and there's plenty of action and romance blended together to keep you reading! I'm still iffy on the fourth book though!

The year is 2195. The place is New Victoria - a high-tech nation modeled on the manners, mores, and fashions of an antique era. A teenager in high society, Nora Dearly is far more interested in military history and her country’s political unrest than in tea parties and debutante balls. But after her beloved parents die, Nora is left at the mercy of her domineering aunt, a social-climbing spendthrift who has squandered the family fortune and now plans to marry her niece off for money. For Nora, no fate could be more horrible - until she’s nearly kidnapped by an army of walking corpses.

But fate is just getting started with Nora. Catapulted from her world of drawing-room civility, she’s suddenly gunning down ravenous zombies alongside mysterious black-clad commandos and confronting “The Laz,” a fatal virus that raises the dead - and hell along with them. Hardly ideal circumstances. Then Nora meets Bram Griswold, a young soldier who is brave, handsome, noble . . . and dead. But as is the case with the rest of his special undead unit, luck and modern science have enabled Bram to hold on to his mind, his manners, and his body parts. And when his bond of trust with Nora turns to tenderness, there’s no turning back. Eventually, they know, the disease will win, separating the star-crossed lovers forever. But until then, beating or not, their hearts will have what they desire.

Another library find! Honestly, I find libraries are the best place to stumble across hidden gems! I found this to be such an original and fun read, and I'm forever gutted there isn't a third book! There needs to be more from this world, I'm not going to lie! Anyway, this is a really fun read and Lia has another book out that's awesome and set in an alternate 50's that's full of magic, Familiar Things is totally worth a read too!

There's something strange and deadly loose in Philadelphia. . . .

Eleanor Fitt has a lot to worry about.

Her brother has gone missing, her family has fallen on hard times, and her mother is determined to marry her off to any rich young man who walks by. But this is nothing compared to what she's just read in the newspaper:

The Dead are rising in Philadelphia.

And then, in a frightening attack, a zombie delivers a letter to Eleanor . . . from her brother.

Whoever is controlling the Dead army has taken her brother as well. If Eleanor is going to find him, she'll have to venture into the lab of the notorious Spirit-Hunters, who protect the city from supernatural forces. But as Eleanor spends more time with the Spirit-Hunters, including the maddeningly stubborn yet handsome Daniel, the situation becomes dire. And now, not only is her reputation on the line, but her very life may hang in the balance.

I'm sure if you've seen my instagram over the last day or so, you'll see that I've read this and the sequel in one sitting each. Seriously. Took me about three hours to read each one, and I'm a quarter of the way through the third and final one! These had been on my list for ages, and then I read Truthwitch, the first in Susan's new series, and I had to read these! So I finally got them and Halloween has provided the perfect TBR bumping opportunity! These are original, fun, and the romance is too cute you guys!

Monsters, Creepiness and Everything Else

Okay, so, for this section...sure they might not be traditionally Halloween-y but I know a lot of you guys don't like being creeped out or you know...terrified when reading! These are all YA, and they've got loads of different things about them, there's monsters, humour, romance, a little bit of creepiness if old photos creep you out...you know exactly what book I'm talking about, no doubt! ANYWAY. While these might not all immediately scream Halloween, most of them have a vibe/atmosphere that kinda fits with it, and makes them books you feel like you should probably read in October! (Plus a couple of these are ones I just couldn't work out what damn category to put them in because it's been a while since I read them!)

Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was: a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn't just dangerous—it's a constant reminder of those Mac has lost, Da's death was hard enough, but now that her little brother is gone too, Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself may crumble and fall.

I love everything Victoria writes, I'm not going to lie to you and after reading ADSOM I pretty much picked up everything else she'd written. Seriously. Including one out of print book. This may not seem all that Halloween-y but I love the atmosphere to the book, and the vibe it has, and it's original AND I can't think of a better time of year to read it to be honest.

Seventeen-year-old Maggie Cunningham is tough, smart, and sassy. She's also not like other girls her age, but then, who would be when the family business is monster hunting? Combat boots, ratty hooded sweatshirts, and hair worn short so nothing with claws can get a grip, Maggie's concerns in life slant more toward survival than fashion or boys. Which presents a problem when Maggie's mother informs Maggie that she can't get her journeyman's license for hunting until she loses her virginity.

Something about virgin blood turning vampires into pointy rage monsters. Blood and gore and insides being on the outside and all that.

Maggie's battled ghosts and goblins and her fair share of house brownies, but finding herself a boy - fitting in with her peers - proves a much more daunting task than any monster hunt. Did you know normal girls don't stuff their bras with holy water balloons? Nor do they carry wooden stakes in their waistbands. And they care about things like "matching" and "footwear." Of course, they also can't clean a gun blindfolded, shoot a crossbow, or exorcise ghosts from a house. Which means they're lame and Maggie's not. Because Maggie's awesome. The Awesome, in fact. Just ask her. She'd be more than happy to tell you.

After she finds herself a date.

This book is freaking hilarious, seriously. When I read it, it had me laughing out loud most of the time and I breezed through it in a very short time! It's the perfect Halloween read because it basically has everything in it. Vampires, ghosts, zombies etc and genuinely...cry laughing happened. Maggie's narrative is just too funny! Perfect for Halloween if you prefer to have a laugh rather than be creeped out!

There’s no such thing as safe in a city at war, a city overrun with monsters. In this dark urban fantasy from author Victoria Schwaba young woman and a young man must choose whether to become heroes or villains—and friends or enemies—with the future of their home at stake. The first of two books.

Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives.

Yes. Yes I have included a second book of Victoria's. Why? Because one, she's awesome! And two, it's totally fit for Halloween! Monsters. Monsters everywhere. And blood. Totally Halloween! Plus it's a brilliant read, so while it's not traditionally Halloween, it still fits, and I think you'll all enjoy the originality to it!

Something is wrong with Kaylee Cavanaugh...

She can sense when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest boy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about the dark forces behind Kaylee's power than she does.

And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason and only Kaylee knows who'll be next, she realises that finding a boyfriend is the least of her worries!

I read this entire series in like a week or whatever it was, and I'm putting it on the list because you know....Banshee. I think this is the only Banshee book I've actually read! It's kind of creepy at times, and there's eventually all this other stuff going on, and there's demons, and romance and plenty of awesome scenes that combine to keep you reading! There's also some surprising plot twists!

When Lily Parker's guardians decided to send her away to a fancy boarding school in Chicago, Lily was shocked. So was St. Sophia's.

As the new girl at the elite St. Sophia's boarding school, Lily is surrounded by an ultra-rich bratpack. She's pretty sure her spoiled, petty, fashion-obsessed classmates are the most monstrous things she'll have to face, and surviving them and their cruel practical jokes is proving even tougher than the homework...

But on top of being the punchline to every joke, Lily's hearing strange noises and seeing bizarre things in the shadows of the creepy building. All building have their creaks and groans - but Lily could swear that she's being watched.

The only thing keeping her sane, so far, is her roommate Scout. But something strange is going on there too - Scout keeps disappearing late at night, reappearing bruised and tired, and she won't tell Lily where's she's been... until, that is, a prank leaves Lily trapped in the catacombs beneath the school. Lost in the dark Lily hear's footsteps heading towards her - it's Scout and she's running from a real monster.

Scout is part of a group of rebel teens with unique magical talents, sworn to protect the city against demons, vampires, and Reapers: magic users who've been corrupted by their power. Much as Lily would love to help, it's too dangerous without powers of her own - especially if she'd have to go up against the firespell herself...

Chloe Neill is one of my favourite authors, and it's largely down to this book! It was the first book of hers I had read, and I refuse to call it a trilogy because I'm still hoping for a fourth book because there could totally be a fourth book! This has plenty going on, magic, witches, werewolves...everything! It's plenty of fun, and action, and I'm getting all nostalgic writing this so I think a re-read is in order!

A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of curious photographs.

A horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

Of course this is on the list! This book has plenty of creepiness to it, not least because of the photos. Seriously. Some of them really freaked me out, like the ones with white eyes, and even some of the regular ones. There's something about old photos that are both fascinating and...creepy! This is yet another book full of originality and it has a brilliant story that sucks you in. READ IT BEFORE YOU SEE THE MOVIE BECAUSE YOU NEED THE FULL EFFECT!

The Queen Of Zombie Hearts

The Queen Of Zombie Hearts
Rating: 4/5
Buy or Borrow: Buy
Source: Copy courtesy of the publisher!

It's been a month since the events of Zombie Glass, and things have calmed down to almost normal levels, Ali's ready to get even more serious with Cole, and thinks the horrors from Zombie Glass are behind her. But when Anima Industries launches a mass attack on the slayers, the objective to kill as many of them as possible, there are tragic consequences and the slayers find themselves in the middle of a war. The humans controlling the zombies are bigger monsters than the zombies themselves.

The slayers must prepare for the war they're about to fight, and they find themselves teaming up with another gang of slayers. Except, there's a mole and a traitor in their midst and no-one has any idea who it is, Ali starts seeing another witness who gives her, her powers, now Ali can control the zombies....and wipe memories, and as her abilities start to rack up and pieces fall in to place, a shocking family secret is revealed. Ali has been living in a lie and she's not who she thought she was. How will Cole and Ali's recently mended relationship endure the knowledge Ali has a connection to the woman who killed Cole's mother, not to mention Veronica's meddling little sister determined to break them apart. Secrets will come to light, 6 will die, a side effect of Ali's fire will leave them with an advantage, one will lose everything and Ali will fight her hardest to bring down Anima, even if that means sacrificing herself to stop her friends getting hurt, even if it means losing Cole.

"I'm On Board The Awesome Train And You Can Hop On Or Get Run Over"

Jesus no. NO NO NO NOOOOOOOO. HOW COULD YOU GENA HOW COULD YOU?! Man I can't even. Don't get me wrong, the story is wrapped up fairly good, even if it is totally heartbreaking but man I need to know about Frosty, and I need to see what happens with Gavin and you know who! You totally left us hangingggg! Also the little brat should not have gotten off so lightly because UGH. So many feels. So many. I finished this at like 3am and I'm just sitting there like "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!" I mean this whole time I figured like a miracle would happen, not this. Waaaaa!

I love this series, I really do, and even though I know there's not really anything left to warrant a fourth book, well I guess there is but it's not that brilliant, I need a fourth book for ultimate closure because there was so many things left open, we got told about Gavin and a girl but never knew if it happened or not, then there's the whole Frosty issue, like my poor baby I need to know what happens to him! Then there's what happened to Reeve and yeah. A lot of things left partially open.

Like I said, I love this series, and yes I gave it five stars, well I did originally give it five stars, by the time you're reading this, I'll have switched it to four after I realize that with the little things I picked up on I couldn't really keep it at five without looking like an idiot, that's because it was a fantastic conclusion but I'm not blind to it's faults. SO I'm going to make a little note of them because as well as the things left open there where a couple of other things that where mildly annoying. Like I re-read the first two books before I got started on this one and I noticed a continuity error with Bronx's hair in the second book, and so for this book I had no idea whether it was right or wrong, but I noticed one huge continuity error and I wasn't sure whether to mention it or not because I really really love this series and it didn't change my star ranking, but then I need to be honest in this review so here we go. In this installment Ali says her father watched his mother be killed by Zombie's, but I'm 99% certain that it was his own father, her grandfather, that her father watched die. So yeah. Fairly big error there. The other thing is that to me, the ending felt a little rushed. Ali loses all her memories and she was only barely getting memories of Helen throughout the book, but one makeout session with Cole and she remembers everything, it didn't seem very legit, and it felt kind of rushed to me and I was a bit sad because I thought it was gonna be more of the book, then with the parts not entirely tied up or answered despite the fact it's the last book....so yeah. There we go. I said it.

HOWEVER the rest of the book was truly an explosive ending. The world continued to be vivid and suck you in entirely, it continued to be cinematic and atmospheric in parts. All of the characters are so very well written, there's more to all of them than meets the eye, like Veronica for example, they all have different sides and plenty of depth and this book continued to show that. I loved the development of certain characters, like Cole who now trusts Ali more, and then Gavin and his he-slut ways being put on hold for a girl. Growly Gavin is hilarious, and I continue to totally love Ali and Gavin's relationship, as friends duh, they make me laugh so much and Cole's reaction, particularly at the end is just hilarious.

Cole and Ali's relationship is going strong, and I liked how you could see he had changed from his reactions in this book to certain secrets, he didn't break up with her, he was a bit of a dick, but he made up for it, and he's come a long way from the whole "I'm gonna dump you because I'm actually a pansy". They're so adorable together, and it's so cute and all warm and fuzzy inducing!

We get new characters in River and his crew, I'd kind of like to know more about him and his gang of slayers, it's another of those things that where a bit oookaay, because while I liked him and yay for Kenzie and Chance (even though we don't know what actually happened), he and his gang just kind of sprang up out of nowhere. Before Gavin's crew has only been mentioned, but Cole has never before mentioned that there's another gang of slayers essentially up the road, and I was a bit stumped by it, because you'd have thought he might have mentioned it when Ali was asking about other slayers, and you'd have thought they'd have come across them before, they where kind of shoved in there! But I did enjoy them and the new characters they brought, and like I said, more of them would be greaaaat!

We get loads of backstory in this one. Backstory to Veronica, to Cole and his mother, to Ali herself. Turns out everything has  been a lie and everything we thought we knew was wrong and man I did not see it coming. Well not at first, but more on that later. We spent the first two books thinking we knew everything about Ali, but we really didn't. She's not who we think she is or who she thinks she is, and it turns out she has a connection to Veronica, which happens to be Veronica's ace (I knew we'd find that out, as well as the vision), and so yeah. Lots of background woven through without bogging down the narrative.

This installment continues to be dangerous to read in public. As heartbreaking as it was at points, there was still plenty of humour and bits that make you laugh out loud like a total loon if you're in a public place, and I loved the  blend of humour with the sadness and other emotions that made such a roller-coaster and lightened up a book that could have been very dark. I love the humour, particularly from Gavin, yes he's totally my favourite character, gutted there was hardly any jealous Cole, I mean he totally had it coming with the Zombie Glass thing and then the Camilla thing!

The plot was complex, with the background for certain characters, the secrets coming out that have been there since the beginning really, the mole, the other gang, the whole thing with Anima and what they where after and so on and so on, it was all woven together incredibly well, there was plenty of action and always something going on to keep you reading, the book is truly hard to put down because you just want to get back to it for one reason or another. The twists and turns where everywhere, some incredibly shocking, others where still shocking but slightly dulled, because while a fair few of the plot twists couldn't be guessed and you didn't see coming, there where a couple that if you put the clues together, Helen for instance, you could pretty much guess exactly who someone was or what was going to happen, or at least have a strong suspicion, so while you had known pretty much, the confirmation you where right was still shocking because I half expected to be totally wrong. But yeah, that was once instance among a couple, but there where loads I didn't guess, who was going to die for instance and who the mole was, those totally blindsided me and I'm still slightly not over it.

Queen Of Zombie Hearts has a couple of liiiiittle things that I picked up on, but all the same it was an explosive conclusion to a trilogy I love, entering the world again was like coming home and the characters where like old friends, it's a series, I for one, will re-read multiple times because I just love how each book, the game is upped and the stakes are higher, and they're at their highest in this installment. This conclusion is going to give fans feels. Bad feels, good feels, so many feels, I would strongly recommend chocolate to be consumed while reading, or alcohol, wine or vodka especially, if you're legal drinking age. Oh yeah. That kind of feels!

Alice Through The Zombie Glass

Alice Through the Zombie Glass
Rating: 5 out of 5 is not enough!
Buy or Borrow: BUY. You WILL want to read it again.
File Under: Book Hangover material.

"Ali Bell doesn't play hide-and-seek. She plays hide-and-pray-I-don't-find-you"

Alice Bell has lost so much since we first met her in Zombieland. Family, friends, and her home. She thought she had nothing else to give, but she was wrong. She has her soul, and her very self. Not to mention Cole her boyfriend. After a strange new zombie attack, weird things begin to happen to her. Mirrors begin to come to life, she has strange urges, she's not acting quite like herself when her emotions are heightened, and the whispers of the dead begin to assault her ears. But the worst thing is the terrible darkness blooming inside her, urging her to do bad things, trying to take over her. She's never needed her team of slayers, her friends, and her boyfriend Cole, the slayers badass leader and ultimate bad boy, more. But there's two new slayers in town to help out after the losses the slayers endured in the battle. Veronica, Cole's ex girlfriend, who's determined to get her back and he's been getting closer to, and Gavin, a certified he-slut and unashamed of it. When Gavin and Ali lock eyes for the first time, they share a vision, something that's only ever happened with Cole, and what they see, causes Cole to withdraw from her, then dump her entirely because of a future that may never happen. He doesn't trust her  or her feelings for him, and instead trusts the visions, and jumping back in to Veronica's arms. That doesn't stop his jealously from rearing it's head, and both of them from being entirely miserable, but Cole has ulterior motives in his closeness to Veronica, linked to a secret he's not told anyone.

Now Ali only has her  best friend Kat at her side, and her other friend Reeve, who cannot be anywhere near Zombies or know anything about them, and her new boyfriend is certainly strange. Ali must kill the zombies, uncover what's going on with Cole, win back the trust of her slayer friends after an incident, and learn to fight the darkness. It turns out she has an unlikely friend in Gavin, and Cole isn't going to give up easily when he realizes he's been wrong. When Anima's new president steps up a plan Ali also has to keep her friends safe. The clock is ticking, and not in a metaphorical way, if she fails any one of her tasks...they're all doomed, but no-one more than Ali herself.

Zombie Glass picks up mere weeks after the events at the end of Zombieland, with her healing from her wounds. I would recommend doing what I did, and re-reading Zombieland so everything's fresh in your mind as there's an important event in the previous book that's relevant to Zombie Glass.

Zombie Glass is everything you simultaneously love and hate in a book. It's a legit throw-at-the-wall-while-screaming book. Then, ya know, running to pick it up and lovingly cradling it to your chest while murmuring apologies right before you get stuck in to it and read it all over again because you loved it so much.

In Zombie Glass relationships are tested, broken and made, and you want to punch a couple of characters in the face, and bang a few heads together. Truths will come out, some shocking, some you knew all along and you're elated at the confirmation.

All of the characters we came to know and love in Zombieland are just as strong and loveable in Zombie Glass. The fantastic characters created, did what I thought was impossible, and got even better. In Zombie Glass I came to love them more, as much as a certain one frustrated me, and we learn that each of the characters has hidden depths to the depth we saw in them originally. More than one character has more sides that come out in this book, and another one is a lot stronger than anyone was giving her credit for. I love these books because all of the characters are strong,  intelligent and someone to look up to, and Ali proves that again in this book.

The plot was strong, and even more complex than Zombieland. We all get that anxiety when we really love a book, and then the sequel comes out and it's either going to be kind of a crappy let down, or mind blowingly good. Zombie Glass is the latter, and the series continues to be going strong. There's plenty of threads to the plot in Zombie Glass, and they're all woven together expertly, with plenty of plot twists that I promise you, you will never see coming. And I'm the girl  that's had many a book ruined because I'm either too pessimistic or i'm just that good at guessing. I tried, believe me I tried, to guess what was going to happen next, or what a character was doing and why, but I fast realized it was fruitless and just rolled with it, being hand-over-the-mouth, gasping out loud shocked at every turn.

Although, I must admit, I called Ethan out right away. Not in a "I know exactly who you are what you're up to" way, but in a "you are incredibly dodgy, and I know there's something wrong with you" way. My brain started referring to him by his very own title....Shady Ethan.

A large chunk of the book is a huge angst fest, but it's done so that you don't get bored or annoyed at it, you just really want to punch Cole in the face (but it's okay because Ali does it for us), and bang Cole and Ali's heads together. The added bonus of the angst is that you keep reading, glued to the page, waiting for the moment to come when all is right again, and Cole stops being a raging idiot.

I think Gavin may be my new favourite character and I loved Ali's descriptive words of him, and the fact he freely embraces the fact he's a he-slut, but is kind of sweet and adorable at the same time.

"Wait. The he-slut of the great South knew how to cook?"

Now so far, a few of you may be panicking about the romance we know and love between Ali and Cole, but don't worry, there's plenty of the cute romancey bits that melt your heart, and manage to make you fall slightly in love with a fictional character and ruin real life boys for you. There where so many points where I wanted to throw the book and then jump on it, the plot, the writing and the characters are THAT good. You get THAT invested in the characters and that connected to them that you feel a huge intense emotional connection to them. You get so many emotions when reading the book, it's a bit of a roller coaster, your heart soars for Ali and then drops for her the next moment. I cannot crow about how well the characters are created enough!

Zombie Glass is truly hilarious, however, so despite the angst and book throwing, you find yourself laughing until tears are streaming down your face and filing away one liners to use when the situation arises. Ali and Gavin really do have the best one liners, and I found myself re-reading the same sentence and laughing my ass off. You will rage at Cole, not going to lie, and you will feel sad at a few parts. Zombie Glass makes you want to scream at one point, and then gives you the warm and fuzzies the next. The characters become your best friends, and the world created becomes the world you inhabit entirely while reading.

Zombie Glass is fast paced with a fantastic flow, incredibly cinematic (still rooting for a movie!) and atmospheric prose from cute to incredibly creepy in 0.6 seconds flat; and world building that is expanded on from Zombieland, and continues to suck you in from the first page for hours on end. There's plenty of intrigue to keep you engaged, tonnes of action and zombie slaying, and an incredible amount happens in this book. Showalter has this way of having millions of things happen in one book, having characters go through tonnes and loads of events, and it feels like you've been in this world forever, totally absorbed, but in reality it's been no time at all. You never get bored, once you start reading you're hooked until the last page when you want to start reading it all over again because you don't want to leave the world or the characters. That and when you're done you're faced with a book hangover nothing can cure, a sense that no book will be able to match up, and the incredibly long wait for the next book that you know is going to destroy you.

A new development occurred that I was kind of rooting for in Zombieland, and totally loved in Zombie Glass. Kenzie became friends with Ali. No seriously. She did. It happened. And it was awesome. You see a totally different side to her when she's being there for Ali and offering to be her friend. You really see the real Kenzie in the scene after everything goes down at Anima. The scene with Kenzie, Lucas and Trina coming to see Ali, not only do you see Kenzie in a new light which i'm excited to be explored in the next book, but that scene will seriously have you wetting yourself with laughter and struggling to breathe. When reading that scene it was like 1 in the morning (I already told you...once you start you can't stop) and I learned the skill of the silent laugh. I seriously had the book practically glued to my hand and finished it at 4am, wrote the bare bones of this review (aka essayed this) on my phone then promptly fell in to a deep sleep peppered with Zombies.

Zombie Glass has fantastically built the grounds for the next book (I figure if I keep mentioning a next book it will definitely happen!), with Veronica's "ace up her sleeve". I just know she's not done, and she's gonna be devious. Gavin sticking around should be very interesting, and I love Ali's friendship with him. Then we have Kat's condition and her illness, and seeing where that goes in the next book, not to mention the threat of Anima becoming bigger, badder, and an all round pain in the ass.

There's plenty of new things to be explored that I'm really excited about. The whole slayers curing themselves with fire thing, why it works or doesn't, Ali's friendship with her former enemies Jaclyn and Kenzie. The journal and it's many many secrets, and the link we discovered, and the secrets about Ali's family. With each book we are given more questions, more to look forward to, and more to sink our teeth in to in the next book as the plot really does thicken.

I mean, I'm sure you can tell from my rambling, and probable repeating of myself, that I cannot praise this book nor it's previous one enough, let alone the author. I get truly excited at the prospect of reading a new book in the series, and I get over-excited about sharing my love for the books with you all, because I want you all to love it. Zombie Glass and Zombieland are books you truly want to read again and again. There's so many awesome things about it.

All I've got left to say is...Gena. Please please please, for the love of my heart and my feels, leave Ali and Cole alone! And ya know...congrats on ruining real life blokes for me forever more!
