Okay so...today's rec post is kind of a mix of things! I was going to do Zombies separately to the monsters/creepy/etc rec post, but turns out there aren't enough days in the month for all the rec posts that I have planned for you guys, and the reviews and the discussions...so here we go!
First up I'm gonna hit you guys with Zombies, and I only came up with four. I know there are more, but I've only read four. So...I need to work on that clearly!

This is one of my favourite series, I'm not going to lie, I stumbled across it at the library and completely loved it. Sure it has the tendency to be a little cheesy, but it's a great series, honest! It has a brilliant twist on zombies, and there's plenty of action and romance blended together to keep you reading! I'm still iffy on the fourth book though!

Another library find! Honestly, I find libraries are the best place to stumble across hidden gems! I found this to be such an original and fun read, and I'm forever gutted there isn't a third book! There needs to be more from this world, I'm not going to lie! Anyway, this is a really fun read and Lia has another book out that's awesome and set in an alternate 50's that's full of magic, Familiar Things is totally worth a read too!

I'm sure if you've seen my instagram over the last day or so, you'll see that I've read this and the sequel in one sitting each. Seriously. Took me about three hours to read each one, and I'm a quarter of the way through the third and final one! These had been on my list for ages, and then I read Truthwitch, the first in Susan's new series, and I had to read these! So I finally got them and Halloween has provided the perfect TBR bumping opportunity! These are original, fun, and the romance is too cute you guys!
Monsters, Creepiness and Everything Else
Okay, so, for this section...sure they might not be traditionally Halloween-y but I know a lot of you guys don't like being creeped out or you know...terrified when reading! These are all YA, and they've got loads of different things about them, there's monsters, humour, romance, a little bit of creepiness if old photos creep you out...you know exactly what book I'm talking about, no doubt! ANYWAY. While these might not all immediately scream Halloween, most of them have a vibe/atmosphere that kinda fits with it, and makes them books you feel like you should probably read in October! (Plus a couple of these are ones I just couldn't work out what damn category to put them in because it's been a while since I read them!)
Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

I love everything Victoria writes, I'm not going to lie to you and after reading ADSOM I pretty much picked up everything else she'd written. Seriously. Including one out of print book. This may not seem all that Halloween-y but I love the atmosphere to the book, and the vibe it has, and it's original AND I can't think of a better time of year to read it to be honest.
Seventeen-year-old Maggie Cunningham is tough, smart, and sassy. She's also not like other girls her age, but then, who would be when the family business is monster hunting? Combat boots, ratty hooded sweatshirts, and hair worn short so nothing with claws can get a grip, Maggie's concerns in life slant more toward survival than fashion or boys. Which presents a problem when Maggie's mother informs Maggie that she can't get her journeyman's license for hunting until she loses her virginity.
Something about virgin blood turning vampires into pointy rage monsters. Blood and gore and insides being on the outside and all that.
Maggie's battled ghosts and goblins and her fair share of house brownies, but finding herself a boy - fitting in with her peers - proves a much more daunting task than any monster hunt. Did you know normal girls don't stuff their bras with holy water balloons? Nor do they carry wooden stakes in their waistbands. And they care about things like "matching" and "footwear." Of course, they also can't clean a gun blindfolded, shoot a crossbow, or exorcise ghosts from a house. Which means they're lame and Maggie's not. Because Maggie's awesome. The Awesome, in fact. Just ask her. She'd be more than happy to tell you.
After she finds herself a date.
This book is freaking hilarious, seriously. When I read it, it had me laughing out loud most of the time and I breezed through it in a very short time! It's the perfect Halloween read because it basically has everything in it. Vampires, ghosts, zombies etc and genuinely...cry laughing happened. Maggie's narrative is just too funny! Perfect for Halloween if you prefer to have a laugh rather than be creeped out!

Yes. Yes I have included a second book of Victoria's. Why? Because one, she's awesome! And two, it's totally fit for Halloween! Monsters. Monsters everywhere. And blood. Totally Halloween! Plus it's a brilliant read, so while it's not traditionally Halloween, it still fits, and I think you'll all enjoy the originality to it!
Something is wrong with Kaylee Cavanaugh...

I read this entire series in like a week or whatever it was, and I'm putting it on the list because you know....Banshee. I think this is the only Banshee book I've actually read! It's kind of creepy at times, and there's eventually all this other stuff going on, and there's demons, and romance and plenty of awesome scenes that combine to keep you reading! There's also some surprising plot twists!

Chloe Neill is one of my favourite authors, and it's largely down to this book! It was the first book of hers I had read, and I refuse to call it a trilogy because I'm still hoping for a fourth book because there could totally be a fourth book! This has plenty going on, magic, witches, werewolves...everything! It's plenty of fun, and action, and I'm getting all nostalgic writing this so I think a re-read is in order!

Of course this is on the list! This book has plenty of creepiness to it, not least because of the photos. Seriously. Some of them really freaked me out, like the ones with white eyes, and even some of the regular ones. There's something about old photos that are both fascinating and...creepy! This is yet another book full of originality and it has a brilliant story that sucks you in. READ IT BEFORE YOU SEE THE MOVIE BECAUSE YOU NEED THE FULL EFFECT!
